HLWJ-4020 5-axis waterjet transforms complex stonework for U.S. Architectural Company.
A foremost U.S. architectural fabrication facility experienced the mounting need for custom and bespoke workings such as ornate stone facades and unique inlays—all jobs of high polish that demanded smooth curves, crisp edge profiles, and flawless transitions from 2D to 3D geometries. Not surprisingly, these have failed to address the problem with tightly recessed undercut corners, thin profiles, and heat‑sensitive materials, longer cycle times, secondary polishing, and associated micro‑cracks.
To overcome those challenges, they eventually acquired Our Hualong’s HLWJ-4020 5-Axis CNC Waterjet – a powerful solution machine which is perfect for the reasons mentioned above:
Ultra‑High Pressure Cutting: The 37 kW ND main motor turns water-abrasive jets up to pres
sure over 4,137 bar (60000 psi) at about 380 MPa—sustained by the system, it will produce sub-millimeter kerfs (0.5–1.0 mm)—eroding stone, metal, and glass with kerfs as narrow as 0.5 mm, free of heat affected zone
Full 5‑Axis Interpolation: Repeat A‑axis (±60°) and C‑axis (±360°) linear motion complements Z‑axis retraction to simplify complex bevels, conical surfaces, grooves and freefrom contours all in one setup.
Precision & Reliability: The Servo‑driven linear sledges, helical rack‑and‑pinion stage, and the oil‑cooled hydraulics assure ±0.1 mm both linear and angular accuracy, and the CNC‑controlled garnet feed avoids abrasive jams and increases unattended run time.
Ergonomic Control: A mobile NcStudio V10 console (19″ LCD, full G‑code support) and available wireless pendant allow for simplified job programming/monitoring right on the work envelope.
The result of all this is:
30% Faster Cycle Times: Once intricate panels that needed several machines, and hand‑finishing, are today cut in a single waterjet pass.
Zero Thermal Damage & Dust: Final edges require minimal to no secondary polishing and decrease labor and consumables.
Expanded Design Capabilities: Once unaffordable complexities such as intricate inlays, undercuts and non planar surfaces have become standard goings on.
Rapid ROI: Payback with increased throughput and reduced rework has translated to several months after installation.
This architectural firm has been able to take its place in the market higher by using the precision and versatility of Hualong’s HLWJ‑4020, thereby bringing beautiful visionary stonework quicker, cleaner, and more profitably than ever before.
